Early orthodontic care for kids who need guidance as their smiles grow

Some children need orthodontic help before all their adult teeth come in. Early treatment allows East Idaho Orthodontics to guide jaw growth, correct bite problems, and create space for permanent teeth. This can make future treatment easier, shorter, and more comfortable while helping your child grow into a healthy, confident smile.

How Early Treatment Works

Guiding your child’s smile while they are still growing

Early orthodontic treatment helps guide jaw growth and tooth development while your child is still growing. We may use expanders, partial braces, or other gentle appliances to create space, improve bite alignment, and help adult teeth come in correctly. This early guidance often reduces the need for extractions, surgery, or complex treatment later on.

Signs Your Child May Need Early Orthodontic Treatment

Common clues parents can watch for at home

Your child may benefit from early orthodontic care if you notice crowding around age 7-9, difficulty chewing or biting, mouth breathing, thumb sucking past age five, speech issues, or teeth that stick out or don’t line up properly. Early or late loss of baby teeth and jaw shifting when opening or closing can also be signs.

A good sign you are ready to visit an Orthodontist is when the first permanent teeth begin to come in. If you are unsure, a quick evaluation at East Idaho Orthodontics can give you clear answers and peace of mind.
